Personal opinion only … Lets just hope that this won’t be an excuse to revert to chalk and talk/teach and test, “you don’t need to know that, its not in the exam” coaching academy approach to teaching. Please let there be some balance in all of this.

@lannerhead: Teaching 4 skills & understanding is a necessity – i’m not sure OBE was the correct methodology 4 SA at the time of implementation
@Riette_roos Mixed feelings . .but to be quite honest, it did not work and we sit with the result. what they want to bring in now .

Hi Maggie
I’ve posted some thoughts on my blog at http://cloudwisdom.wordpress.com/2009/11/30/obe-in-sa-too-much-of-a-good-thing/ – thinking back to the origins of OBE and the high hopes we had. I think OBE’s intentions were good – it’s the execution that was flawed!
